Opening Statement:
MD: "What a basketball game. We got off to a slow start mainly because Ohio State was playing great basketball. We got away from what we like to do, which is get the ball inside and we took some quick shots. (Robert) Vaden got two fouls. We did cut the lead to eight at the half, which I thought was pretty good. We came back in the second half and got it back. I think Lewis Monroe played his best basketball game. That is the Lewis Monroe we expect to play every game at that level of play. He did a good job in the second half of pushing the ball in transition. We wanted to get some quick shots and make (Terence) Dials defend."
On Strickland playing some point guard:
MD: "They came out and were playing five on four really because they weren't guarding Lewis (Monroe). We didn't want to put Earl (Calloway) in because they were playing him the same way. We put Marshall (Strickland) at the point and figured that they would have to guard him. That way we can get the ball inside and have shooters around the perimeter."
On the play of Lewis Monroe:
MD: "No one knows how good Lewis is except for us. He just had to show it. He is a real unselfish player and hadn't been aggressive to the ball. We talked to him at the half and told him to be a man and step up and make some plays. We know how good he is, but the fans and media don't know - you can push the ball and make some plays and he did that."
On the play with 0.57 left in the second half:
MD: "What I wanted to do was not get a quick shot. I wanted to go overtime if we did make it. We have run that alignment before but not that play. I wanted to get Marco (Killingsworth) coming off a cross screen. Marshall (Strickland) did a great job of just standing in there and Marco sold it well."
