10 Questions With Eric Alexander

Freshman Eric Alexander has become a force at forward for the Hoosiers. He was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 9 after scoring his first and second career goals in games against Louisville and Northwestern. Alexander sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com to answer a few questions about himself.
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I'd really like to go to San Diego, I've heard they have a pretty cool zoo there.
Since coming to Indiana, I've learned:
Time management skills, between school, soccer and sleep.
What is your favorite sport besides soccer?
I played basketball in high school and middle school. I really like college basketball. It's better than the NBA because it's more competitive.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when my under-17 club team won regionals. We got to go to nationals, and that was pretty cool.
The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
Josh Tudela, because he's a good leader on the field and he sets a good example for everybody.
Name one thing that you wish you were better at?
I wish I was better at drawing. I think it's pretty cool to be able to draw pictures. It takes a lot of talent and concentration.
Describe your presence on the field. What do you bring to the team?
I try to bring creativity on offense, and hard work on defense.
What do you like best about Coach Freitag?
I like him because he really knows the game and he's really intense about the game. He gets us fired up. I think that's one of the big things a coach needs to do.
What are your goals for this year?
My personal goals this year are to do well in school, and just play consistently. I want to keep playing well, and get better. Those are my goals for now.
What are your pre-game rituals or superstitions?
I don't put my shin guards on before the game starts, and I have to tie my shoes on the field. I always tie my left before my right. Subconsciously though, I guess I always do the same thing.
