This women's soccer season, IUHOOSIERS.com is taking an insider's look at the Hoosiers. Part of that will be the captain's log, where every Thursday one of the Hoosiers' tri-captains will give her view of IU's week. The entry for Thursday, Oct. 12, is by senior Carrie DeFreece.
It has been a good week of practicing so far, although the weather has become quite chilly. Last night at practice the wind was blowing like a tornado and the rain felt like icicles hitting your face. No matter what the weather is this weekend, Ian has reminded us that we will not let it bother us! :)
This weekend is HUGE for the IU women's soccer team! After receiving a ranking of 16th in the nation, now the pressure is really on for us to keep proving ourselves. Our approach to this season so far has been that the game that we are about to play is the most important game of our lives (as coach would say).
So...this Friday...beating Wisconsin is our #1 priority. After that game is over, Sunday's game against Northwestern will be the most important game of our lives. (No pressure huh;)
I personally am excited for this weekend because I have a lot of family and friends coming to Bloomington to watch us play! My parents and little brother have come to every single game this season besides one (a Wednesday game), and this weekend along with them are my sister and her husband, both sets of my grandparents, my aunt and uncle and their three kids, and my boyfriend and his parents!!! I know that a lot of other people have lots of fans coming too! (Lamping has entire bus coming!!)
It is kind of sad to think that this weekend will be the seniors' last regular season home games at Armstrong Stadium, but I try not to think about it. Instead, I think about how awesome this season has been so far and how we need to stay focused and keep working hard to keep getting the results we want!
