Lewis Named National Freshman of the Week by Rivals.com

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Redshirt freshman quarterback has garnered another national award this week, being named the Rivals.com National Freshman of the Week. Lewis threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns in the Hoosiers' 31-28 win over No. 13 Iowa on Oct. 14.
Lewis was one of three Hoosiers in consideration for the award, as Austin Thomas (11 tackles, 1 forced fumble) and Josh Bailey (6 tackles, 3 for loss, 1 fumble recovery) were also in the running for the award. Others considered included Wisconsin's P.J. Hill, who ran for 165 yards against Minnesota, and Texas' Colt McCoy, who threw six TD passes against Baylor.
Lewis has been honored by numerous publications after upending the Hawkeyes on 19-of-25 passing, grabbing awards including USA Today's Player of the Week and co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week. He was also nominated for the Cingular All-America Player of the Week.
The Hoosiers hit the road this week to take on top-ranked Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, before returning to "The Rock" for Homecoming to take on Michigan State on Oct. 28. Both games kickoff at noon (EDT). Indiana head coach Terry Hoeppner has issued the Hoosier Nation Challenge, as IU seeks a crowd of 50,000 as the Hoosiers take on the Spartans.
