• Austin Starr's 33-yard field goal in the first quarter improved the sophomore to 8-of-10 on the season and 4-of-5 from 30 yards and beyond.
• Troy Smith's third-quarter fumble was both forced and recovered by Jammie Kirlew, the first of his career in both categories. The Hoosiers have recovered a fumble on defense in six straight games and have recovered seven fumbles overall on the season.
• Indiana has a takeaway in each of its eight games this season and has registered one in nine straight games overall dating back to 2005.
• Kellen Lewis posted his fourth straight game without an interception. He has now gone 121 passes since his last pick. He entered the game with the third-longest streak in the nation, trailing Houston's Kevin Kolb and Notre Dame's Brady Quinn.
• True freshmen Matt Mayberry and Mandela Roberts each recorded career-highs with eight and five tackles, respectively, in the contest.
• True freshmen Rodger Saffold and Pete Saxon started on the left side of the line for the second consecutive game for the Hoosiers.
• This is the 15th time the Hoosiers have faced the No. 1 team in the nation and the fifth time IU has faced Ohio State when the Buckeyes were ranked No. 1.
• Justin Frye recorded his 41st consecutive start on the Hoosier offensive line, starting at center for the Hoosiers. Frye has played all five positions on the IU offensive line in his career.
