Lyon Honored by Missouri Valley Conference

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana women's soccer head coach Mick Lyon has been named the coach of the Missouri Valley Conference's Women's Soccer All-Centennial Team. Lyon led the University of Evansville to five MVC Tournament titles, three NCAA Tournaments and won three Coach of the Year Awards from 1996-2001.
The conference is selecting all-centennial teams for each of its sports in celebration of the conference's 100 seasons. The MVC is the second-oldest NCAA Division I conference.
Joining Lyon on the MVC Women's Soccer All-Centennial Team are four of his former players - Sandy Jacubczak, Terra May, Krista McKendree, and Krissy Meek. Meek, a three-time MVC Player of the Year, led all vote-getters in fan balloting.
Lyon's further etched his name into the history books on Friday, Oct. 13, as he earned a 1-0 win over Wisconsin to post his 150th career victory. Lyon now has a career record of 150-105-30, including a 43-39-12 mark for the Hoosiers. Lyon is Evansville's all-time leader in career victories.
The Hoosiers will close out the regular season on Friday, Oct. 27, when they head to West Lafayette, Ind., for a matchup with in-state rival Purdue. Game time is set for 4 p.m. EDT. The winner of the contest will clinch the third seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament, which starts Nov. 2.
