Kellye Belcher Named Rolex Junior All-American

BRASELTON, Ga. - Indiana University freshman Kellye Belcher was named a Rolex Junior All-American by the America Junior Golf Association (AJGA) on Wednesday. The Bartlett, Tenn., native earned honorable mention honors for the second consecutive year.
"Kellye is very deserving of this honor," Indiana head women's golf Clint Wallman said. "She is exceptionally talented and played very well this past summer. Her play this semester here at IU has exemplified that. I am very pleased for her."
En route to earning the honor, Belcher won two AJGA events in the summer of 2006 and finished the season ranked No. 48 in the Polo Golf Rankings. She was the medalist at the Jerry Pate/Andrews Institute Southern Junior in Pensacola, Fla., and at the True Temper/David Gossett Junior Championship in Memphis, Tenn.
Introduced by the AJGA in 1978, the Rolex Junior All-America Teams annually recognize those players who have established themselves as the world's premier junior golfers. This year's selections distinguished themselves through their outstanding play in 63 national events, 52 of which were conducted by the AJGA. In 2006, the Rolex Junior All-America Teams were determined exclusively through the Polo Golf Rankings for the first time.
The teams are comprised of 96 junior golfers, ages 13-19, from 20 states and three foreign countries. These standouts will be recognized Nov. 19 during the Rolex Junior All-America Awards Banquet held at The Cloister in Sea Island, Ga.
