During the 2006 season, IUHOOSIERS.com will give women's soccer fans an insider's look at what it's like to be a member of the team. Every Tuesday, a different Hoosier will bring her view of the weekend's events to IUHOOSIERS.com. The entry for Tuesday, Oct. 3, is by junior Beverly Markwort.
What an exciting weekend for women's soccer! Two more wins for the Hoosiers of IU. "Go I-U, WE BEAT the Wolverines, GO!" Pardon my breaking out into chant--it happens.
I'm just excited that we're going into our next game against one of our nemeses, Penn State, 4-0 in the Big Ten. We haven't beaten them since I've been at IU, and I'm looking forward to making it a BEATING this Sunday. Too bad Tiff can't be there witness it, or be there to chat about engineer frat boys. Oh well, miss you Tiff. Those Nittany Lions don't know what they have coming to them...mua ha ha.
Anyway, this weekend was great. Our team had very high morale and I think the results definitely showed it. The hotels we stayed in were kind of creepy but you wouldn't know it by our performance! Put us in a tent! We will still play well!
We had a large crowd for both games. Our IU parents and fans go above and beyond and I cannot even explain the difference it makes having them there. So, thank you parents and friends!
Both the games against Michigan State and Michigan were physical ones, as are most Big Ten games. But even physicality could not take the Hoosiers out of their game. It's off to Evansville (a non-Big Ten game, but coach's alma mater) and then Penn State here at home. As Ali Brown said, "Hopefully our winning ways will continue next weekend."
