Trio of Hoosiers Named First Team All-Region

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior goalkeeper Haley Exner, senior back Morgan Miller and senior forward Lydia Schrott earned first team All-West Region accolades announced the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Nov. 13. All three Hoosiers are first team All-Big Ten selections as well.
Exner, who closed the season ranked second nationally in save percentage at .806, wass honored with her second all-region honor, after she earned second-team laurels last season. The San Diego, Calf., native closed the year with 100 saves, four shutout victories and a goals against average of 1.75. Additionally, Exner holds IU's all-time wins record with 31 career victories. In 2006, Exner picked up a pair of Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 2 and Oct. 30, in addition to being tabbed first team All-Big Ten for the second consecutive season.
Miller picks up her second first team all-region laurel and her third overall after leading the Hoosier defense to the lowest goals allowed in program history (24). The Gap, Pa., product notched a pair of defense saves in 2006 to go along with 17 points off seven goals and three assists, while leading the Hoosiers in shots with 45. Additionally, Miller is a two time first team All-Big Ten selection and will compete in the NFHCA Senior All-Star game on Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. EST at Wake Forest's Kentner Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Schrott earned her fourth NFHCA All-West Region accolade and her third first-team honor. The Quarryville, Pa., native led the Indiana offense in 2006 with 29 points off 12 goals and five assists. Schrott became the first Hoosier in program history to reach the 100-point plateau in a career with a hat trick performance against Northwestern on Sept. 22. The career leader in every offensive category, Schrott earned second team NFHCA All-American honors in 2006 and is a three time first team All-Big Ten selection. Along with Miller, Schrott was also selected to the Senior All-Star game.
