Meyers, Starr Named Academic All-District V

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior safety Will Meyers and sophomore kicker Austin Starr earned first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V honors as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
To be eligible for the award a player must be in at least his second year of athletic eligibility, be a first-team or key performer and carry a cumulative 3.20 grade point average.
Meyers, a 2005 Academic All-American, is making his third straight appearance on the All-District V team. The Chesterfield, Mo., native leads the Hoosiers with 75 tackles (50 solos) and ranks 17th in the Big Ten with 6.8 tackles per game. Meyers, an accounting major, is also tied for the team lead and shares seventh in the Big Ten with three interceptions.
Starr, who collects his first all-district honor, has connected on 10-of-12 field goals this season and shares second in the Big Ten kicking at an 83.3 percent success rate. The biology major has recorded two game-winning kicks, including a 33-yarder as time expired to beat Illinois on Oct. 7 and a 35-yarder in the fourth quarter to defeat Ball State in Muncie on Sept. 9.
The duo will be placed on the ballot for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America consideration.
