Hoosiers Swept At Northwestern, 3-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Indiana volleyball team fell at Northwestern, 3-0 (30-21, 30-16, 30-21) on Nov. 18. The Hoosiers are now 10-20 overall on the season and 1-17 against Big Ten opponents while Northwestern improves to 14-13 overall and 8-10 in the conference.
The Hoosiers had their best hitting game in the match in the first frame, recording a .189 hitting percentage. However, the Wildcats out-hit IU with a percentage of .317 of their own. Indiana scored first in the game, but a 10-0 run by Northwestern put the Wildcats up, 16-5, and the Hoosiers could not top that advantage. Northwestern also took the second game, 30-16, and closed out the match with another 30-21 victory in the third stanza.
For the match, Erica Short led the Hoosiers with 12 kills. She also had three digs and two block assists for IU. She was followed by Lauren Ditteon with seven kills and six digs. Jessica Langert led the Hoosiers with seven digs on the defensive side of the ball, and every person in the IU lineup recorded at least one dig in the contest. Allison Regas had two service aces, 17 assists and two block assists for IU in the loss.
Lindsay Anderson had 18 kills to lead three Wildcats in double-figures. Three members of the team also had double-digit digs, with Kate Nobilio leading that category with 19. On the block, Courtnie Paulus had two solo blocks and one block assist to lead Northwestern.
The Hoosiers will return to action on Friday, Nov. 24, when they host Wisconsin in University Gym at 7 p.m. IU will close out its season on Saturday, Nov. 25, against Minnesota at 7 p.m. in University Gym. That will be the final home match for IU seniors Sara Diehl and Anne Grabow.
