Indiana (2-1, 0-0 Big Ten) concludes its two-game homestand against Chicago State (1-2) on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at Branch McCracken Court at Assembly Hall (17,542). IU defeated Indiana State, 73-66 on Nov. 17, and this is Chicago State's first game since a 76-64 loss at Wichita State on Nov. 14. Chicago State opened with a 98-95 victory over St. Bonaventure on Nov. 10 before losing to Texas, 92-66 on Nov. 11. The Bonnie and Longhorn contests were part of the 2K Sports Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
Sunday's game marks the first time that Indiana and Chicago State have met on the hardwood. Chicago State is in its first year as an independent after spending the last 12 years as a member of the Mid-Continent Conference.
Entering the Indiana State game, IU opponents held a 55-27 advantage in free throw attempts. The Hoosiers amended this issue by posting a 32-13 advantage in free throw attempts against the Sycamores, including a 24-7 difference in the second half.
Junior forward Lance Stemler scored a career-high 18 points on 5-of-9 three-pointers against Indiana State. Three of Stemler's treys came when the Sycamores trailed by two points or less.
Since the 2000-01 season, Kelvin Sampson-coached teams are 35-17 (.673) in games decided by five points or less and 96-12 (.889) when they score 70 points or more in a game.
