Hoosiers Close 2006 Season Ranked No. 16

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team closed the 2006 campaign with a 14-5 overall record and a national ranking of No. 16 in the final National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA)/STX poll released Nov. 7. This marks the second consecutive season IU has closed the year ranked in the top 20.

The Hoosiers are one of five Big Ten teams to earn a top-20 ranking. Ohio State leads the way at No. 5, while Penn State finished the year sixth, Iowa 14th and Michigan 18th.

For the season, first team All-Big Ten selection Lydia Schrott led the Hoosier offense with 29 points off 12 goals and five assists. Senior Morgan Miller led the IU defense to five shutout wins in 2006, while scoring seven goals for the Hoosiers at center back. First team All-Big Ten goalkeeper Haley Exner closed the season with 100 saves and a .801 save percentage.
