BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a weekly basis, IUHOOSIERS.com will recognize the top performance in Hoosier Athletics by selecting an IU Athlete of the Week. For the week ending Dec. 10, junior forward D.J. White is the winner. This is the first honor for White and the IU men's basketball team this season.
White averaged team highs in points (17.5), rebounds (7.5), blocks (3.5), offensive rebounds (3.5) and minutes (31.5) last week, as IU defeated Western Illinois, 92-40, and fell at Kentucky, 59-54. He nearly logged his fifth-career double-double as he matched a career high with 23 points to go along nine rebounds, four blocks and two steals in a season-high 39 minutes at UK.
The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native added three blocks against Western Illinois to vault into the Big Ten lead with 2.6 per game. He helped limit the Leathernecks to 40 points - the lowest point total scored against the Hoosiers since 1978 - and gave Indiana its largest margin of victory since 1998.
