Indiana junior Catie Manning is a member of the Crimson cheerleading squad for the 2006-07 season. A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., Manning sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com for 10 questions so IU fans can get to know a little more about her
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
"My friend Herb. He just turned 92 years old and has been a dear family friend for years. We talk about life, and he gives me great advice. He is really and amazing individual."
Teammate or coach I admire the most:
"I would have to say Griffin Golden is someone that I admire and just adore. She is a double major, fifth-year senior and never ever gives less than 110%. She is so busy outside of cheerleading sometimes, I don't know how she does it. She is a hard worker and will be successful."
Most memorable IU athletics moment:
"I would say the first time that we lined up for the first ever "The Walk" was one of the most memorable moments that I have experience. The amount of energy that our fans expressed was simply amazing! I love Coach Hep, and he has simply done an amazing job with our team. Even though we are not yet known for our football team, watch out because I have a feeling that we will be soon!"
Other than cheerleading what IU sport would you play?
"I always joke that I would play basketball...except I would need to grow about two feet and learn to shoot a ball first. But on a serious note, I would probably play women's rugby. I am really good friends with the girls on the team, and they work hard always. I am their biggest cheerleader! If I could be out there with them I would in a heart beat!"
Favorite place on IU's campus:
"The Union. It's so mysterious and old, but it's just an amazing building. I really enjoy just roaming the halls and floors. It just never gets old!"
What's your major?
"I am a telecommunications major with a cognate in sports marketing and management. I would really love to be a sports caster on ESPN one day."
Place I would most like to travel:
"Honestly, I would love to see the world. I think I would like to go to Rome the most though."
Favorite aspect of cheerleading:
"The games. I love the atmosphere that is generated from the crowd, and if it's a really great game and we are winning, then it makes it even better!"
Most prized possession:Â
"My faith and ambition are probably my most priced possession because I really don't own anything that couldn't be replaced."
What makes Indiana special from any other program?
"We aren't just a program, we are a family. I could go to anyone in this family if I ever needed anything, and they would be willing to help me out. We learn life lessons together and learn to work as one body."Â
