BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a weekly basis, IUHOOSIERS.com will recognize top academic performances by Hoosier student-athletes with the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. For the week ending Oct. 16, senior field hockey player Morgan Albini earned the honor as selected by IU Athletics' Academic Services.
"Morgan is an exceptional athlete and a committed student," Indiana head field hockey coach Amy Robertson said. "She gets the job done and is enthusiastic about everything she does. She is an extremely hard worker. On the field, she is having a great senior season as one of the best backs in the country. She is also excelling in the classroom, which is a tremendous accomplishment. Morgan has excellent character and is a great example for our younger players."
Albini is an elementary education major. She is doing extremely well academically during a hectic in-season travel schedule. She has also balanced her field placement during IU's most-successful field hockey season.
"Morgan is someone who continuously performs at a high level both athletically and academically," academic advisor Jenn Townsend said. "She is also a leader for her teammates and fellow student-athletes. Additionally, Morgan is involved in our community service program and has taken advantage of all the opportunities available to IU students. As much as we will miss having her as a student-athlete at IU, she is someone I feel good about sending into the real world, because I know that she will accomplish some fantastic things. I think that the young students who have her as a teacher will be incredibly fortunate to have such an incredible role model to learn from."
