BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a weekly basis, IUHOOSIERS.com will recognize top academic performances by Hoosier student-athletes with the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. For the week ending Nov. 13, freshman football player Bryan Payton earned the honor as selected by IU Athletics' Academic Services.
"It is great to know that Bryan Payton is working just as hard in the classroom as he is on the football field," Indiana head coach Terry Hoeppner said. "I tell our players that going to class is their job and if they are successful at their job, then they get to play football. Bryan is one of the many reasons why the future of IU football is so bright."
"Bryan has come in and been very proactive in doing his best to get as much added value from his educational experience as possible," academic advisor Scott Maxwell said. "He has utilized all the services provided and worked hard off the field to receive glowing mid-term progress reports from his instructors."
