Burgess Named IU Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a weekly basis, IUHOOSIERS.com will recognize top academic performances by Hoosier student-athletes with the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. For the week ending Sept. 24, freshman football player Trea Burgess earned the honor as selected by IU Athletics' Academic Services.
"Congratulations to Trea," Indiana head football coach Terry Hoeppner said. "That is a great distinction for him. It is always a tough adjustment to balance academics and athletics in your first semester, but Trea has done a tremendous job."
Burgess, a running back from Jeffersonville, Ind., has seen success in his academic pursuits early in his collegiate career. According to one professor, "Trea has not missed a single assignment, he scored the second-highest grade in the class on the last exam and he is hard working and more disciplined than the majority of my students."
According to academic advisor Dustin Swanson, Burgess has the right mindset to be a successful student-athlete. "He attends our academic meetings and he is attentive and open minded to suggestions," Swanson said. "Trea has high expectations for himself and he is willing to do whatever it takes to reach his potential."
