BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a weekly basis, IUHOOSIERS.com will recognize top academic performances by Hoosier student-athletes with the IU Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. For the week ending Oct. 15, redshirt sophomore football player Rayshun Calhoun earned the honor as selected by IU Athletics' Academic Services.
Calhoun, a native of Atlanta, Ga., is majoring in recreational sports management at IU. He has seen action in three games for the Hoosiers this season, notching one solo tackle against Wisconsin.
According to academic advisor Mattie White, Calhoun is greatly committed his efforts in the classroom. "Rayshun has worked tremendously hard in pursuing academic excellence this semester," White said. "Last semester he earned Alpha Beta honors and has continued to challenge himself to reach higher goals, both academically and personally. He is a student-athlete that you see at study tables because he wants to do well, not because he is required to be there. I am truly proud of the hard work and dedication he has shown to his academic course work."
