Indiana head coach Mike Davis Quotes
Opening Statement:
MD: "I thought that for us to be 5-3 at the halfway point of the Big Ten season is pretty good. We have to make sure we continue to take care of our homecourt if we are going to have a chance to be at the top of the Big Ten. It would have been nice to have at least one road win. I thought we played well defensively against a tough team to guard. You have to really concentrate defensively against these guys because overall that is a tough team to play against. I thought that Errek Suhr came in and played well, so did Roderick (Wilmont). I thought Marco (Killingsworth) rebounded the ball well and Robert Vaden did too. It was a good game for us heading into Saturday's game."
On Errick Suhr's play:
MD: "I think his style of play can be contagious. I really liked the crowd tonight. They could have been down on us after the last two games, but they came out with a lot of energy. Suhr gave them something to cheer about. He got the crown excited, and we played off of their energy a little. Errek had been playing hard in practice, and I moved him up into the top seven in the rotation. He came in and played just the way he has been practicing."
On changing the regular lineup for tonight's game:
MD: "We didn't really shake things up. We just played the guys we felt gave us the best chance to win. We just want guys to play with energy, and I think that Roderick (Wilmont) and Sean Kline both did that well. For us to be successful, we need guys that aren't going to try and do it all themselves. We need guys that are going to help this team win some basketball games. "
On Ben Allen:
MD: "Ben, defensively, needs to get better, but tonight he made a big play in the post and knocked down his free throws. He caught the ball in the paint and didn't rush. He took his time and made a big move. Hopefully, he can continue to get better because we are definitely going to need him to play well in these upcoming games. "
On playing another No. 1 team in the country at home for the second time this season:
MD: "First of all, I am going to go home and enjoy this win. If I don't enjoy this for a little while, I am going to think too much about Connecticut and my stomach is going to feel a lot like it did before this game. Coach (Jim) Calhoun is a great, Hall of Fame coach. He is going to bring a great team in here on Saturday and we are going to have to go out and play hard. "
