BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - IUHOOSIERS.com recently asked each member of the Indiana women's golf team what clubs they carry around the links. In the upcoming weeks, each IU golfer will let us take a look inside what is in their bags. Senior Molly Redfearn from Racine, Wis., is next up.
Overall
MR - I have finally found the perfect set of golf clubs for my game. All of my clubs are relatively new, the oldest being my favorite club- my putter. My two-ball putter dates back to freshman year, when I received it as a Christmas gift. During that year I also added two reliable Callaway fairway woods to my golf bag, all of which I still use today. Just last year I was fitted for brand new Ping I3+ irons, which I am thankful for. My newest and best-looking addition to the set is my Ping G2 driver.
Putter
MR - My center shafted two-ball putter is only 33" tall, but it makes a huge difference in my golf game. I have a new Hoosier grip on it that shows my school and team spirit. I am anxious to compete with it this fall and to see what success it will bring.
Woods
MR - I have a combination of different types of woods in my bag that are equally important. As I mentioned above, my new Ping G2 driver was just recently added to my bag. I also mentioned my two Callaway woods; a 3 and a 5-wood that both have a great feel to them. My fourth wood is a wood/iron; my TaylorMade rescue club. I use this club for my 180-yard shots or when I need to get out of trouble.
Irons
MR - I came to Indiana University with a set of Ping I3 irons, but last year I got refitted and upgraded to the I3+ irons. I would have to say that my 8-iron is my favorite iron, but only because it is my lucky number. Otherwise, I like all my irons equally.
Wedges
MR - I am currently using my Ping I3+ wedge along with my 56 and 58-degree Titleist Vokey wedges. My 56-degree wedge has been in my bag for quite a while, but my 58-degree wedge was just added last week. My 56 is good for sand shots and I like the height that I get with my 58-degree wedge.
Ball
MR - I prefer using the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball based solely on feel.
