Michigan senior Peter Vanderkaay
On winning the 1650 Yard Freestyle:
PV: "It means a lot to me. Michigan swimming has a great tradition of distance swimming, and I am just happy that I can be a part of that."
On winning last night's 800 Freestyle Relay:
PV: "It was great for some of our freshmen to step up. Swimming on a relay with my brother was pretty cool and it made the event much more special to me."
Michigan senior Chris DeJong
On winning the 200 Yard Backstroke:
CD: "It means lot to add something to Michigan swimming history. I was very happy to get the win and help out my team in the points race."
Northwestern junior Matt Grevers
On winning five individual events during the meet and tonight's 100 Yard Freestyle:
MG: "It has been a struggle; this is a very tough meet. I have been a part of a lot of tough races. This was my last individual event and I wanted to try and take it. It was even more important to me that Kyle [Bubolz] finished next to me and we got the 1-2 finish. We did it last year in the 50, didn't get to do again this year and so we were really looking for it in the 100 and we got it. This has been my favorite moment of the meet so far."
Northwestern junior Mike Alexandrov
On winning the 200 Yard Breaststroke and when he realized that he had won:
MA: "In the beginning, I was just trying to do my own race while swimming against some of the best breaststrokers in the country. When I hit the wall, I looked up at my parents to see their reaction. When I saw them excited I looked at the board and that's when I knew."
Indiana head coach Ray Looze
On winning the Big Ten Championship:
RL: "It feels good, we are very proud. I am basically speechless. I owe it all to the guys. Without a team like this I don't know how these things are accomplished in such a short period of time. We are a team and I cannot think of one person that did anything more or less than anybody else. This is the hardest thing I have ever been a part of. Four years ago we were seventh in the Big Ten and unranked. To see this happen is something that I am very humbled to be a part of."
