Junior tight end Matt O'Neal participated in all 11 contests in 2005. During the season, he posted career highs in receptions (3 at Iowa), yards (15 at Central Michigan) in a game and longest reception (14 against Kentucky). Overall, O'Neal registered 84 yards receiving and 12 points with touchdowns against Central Michigan and Kentucky.
