Indiana head coach Mike Davis Quotes
Opening Statement:
MD: "That is a great basketball team and the best I have seen. They are so physical, athletic and they have so many weapons that you have to try to take away. I thought that we did a great job in the first part of the game. We played hard and went up nine points. We played the way I wanted us to play, but it is tough to sustain that level of play when they [Connecticut] are making shots, pushing the ball up the court and grabbing offensive rebounds. If you look at the stat sheets, we shot 77 shots and turned the ball over seven times. They are a great team and coach [Jim] Calhoun is one of the greatest coaches in college basketball."
On the game:
MD: "I give my guys a lot of credit. We got behind there for a while, but we fought back. I am proud of Earl [Calloway] and all of these guys kept fighting. We are a good team."
On Marco's affect on the game:
MD: "I keep saying this over and over, Marco [Killingsworth] is definitely the presence we need. When he goes out of the game it definitely affects our play. Every time Marco goes out it hurts us. Marco's our guy, and there is no secret to that."
On Putting in Calloway:
MD: "When we push the ball early, good things happen for us. Against this basketball team [UConn], you got to get it up quick and make plays. I thought Earl came in with the speed to match their guys and did a great job. Playing that way takes us to another level."
