Indiana Pushes Four Divers to Three-Meter Final at Zones

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 11 Indiana men's diving team pushed four divers to finals of the three-meter competition at the 2006 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio, on March 10. Senior Ryan Fagan, sophomore Taylor Roberts, senior Brian Mariano and senior Jesse Rappaport will all battle for a spot at NCAAs in finals.
Fagan recorded the top performance of the morning with a 345.00 tally. He started off strong with an amazing forward 3.5 somersaults from a pike position for 65.10 points.
Meanwhile, Roberts placed just behind with a 344.50 for second place. His best dive came during the fifth round with 66.50 points off a reverse 2.5 somersaults with 1.5 twists from a pike position.
Mariano finished fifth in the morning grouping with a 330.95. As usual, the defending Big Ten Diver of the Year and of the Championships closed out strong with a 61.50 off an inward 2.5 somersaults from a pike position.
Additionally, Rappaport placed eighth with a 311.70 total. His best dive came in the fifth round with 61.50 points from a forward 2.5 somersaults with one twist from a pike position.
In other Hoosier action, sophomore Justin Montrie finished just outside of the championship 18 with a 19th-place 263.75, while classmate David Legler took 34th with a 209.70.
