
No. 19 Indiana Cruises Past California Baptist

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The No. 19 Indiana women's water polo team wrapped up the Wolverine Invitational on March 19 with a 13-7 domination of California Baptist. In the first meeting between the two schools in four years, the Hoosiers raced out to an early lead and held on for the victory. IU improved to 14-8 on the year and have won 10 of its last 11 matches.
The Hoosiers jumped out to an early lead with six goals in the first period and led, 6-1, following the opening eight minutes. IU extended the lead to 9-2 before the intermission. The Hoosiers added a pair of goals in the third period compared to the Lancers one in extending the cushion to 11-3. Indiana tacked on two tallies in the final period for the 13-7 win.
A total of nine players found the scoring column for the Hoosiers. Junior Brooke Zimmerman led the way with her sixth hat trick of the season. Senior Janis Pardy and junior Kara Woolley each notched a pair of markers in the victory, while junior Kristin Zernicke, senior Bridget McKeon, sophomore Brittany Estrada, senior Clare Meadows, junior Jaclyn Tameris and sophomore Linda Calvert scored solo tallies.
Indiana will play at home at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center for the first time this season on Saturday, March 25, and Sunday, March 26, when it host the Fluid Five Challenge. The Hoosiers will play rival and No. 15 Michigan for the second straight weekend on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Hoosiers will battle Wagner at 9 a.m., before squaring off with Marist at 11:30 a.m.
