March 21 Spring Football Practice Report

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana spring football officially got underway on March 21 under second-year head coach Terry Hoeppner. Although the weather didn't feel like spring, the Hoosiers took the field for the first time in Mellencamp Pavilion. IU returns to the practice field Thursday and has its first working in pads on Saturday.
Following practice, several Hoosiers talked with IUHOOSIERS.com on their first outing of the spring.
Wide receiver James Hardy
On the beginning of spring football:
"It's a great feeling to back. I had some time to heal up, and now I am ready to play again."
Running back Marcus Thigpen
On moving to running back:
"I feels good to be back there. I've played running back since I was about eight years old, and I am glad to be back at that position. I like to touch the ball and make plays. It is a good move for me and our offense."
Quarterback Blake Powers
On the team:
"It's great to see how much we have improved, and where we are this year as compared to last. I believe that improvement is going to carry over into the season, and that is something to be excited about."
On the beginning of spring practice:
"It feels great to be back out here with this team. I've been anxious all winter to get out here. I have the opportunity to improve on some things and pick up where I left off at the end of last season."
Offensive lineman Chauncey Incarnato
On the beginning of spring football:
"It's a dream come true. For the first time in my college career I am actually eligible to compete and play this season. I am excited to get out on the field and make both myself and the team better. It feels great to be out here. I love football, and there is no other place I'd rather be right now."
Co-Defensive Coordinator/Safeties coach Joe Palcic
On the start of the spring season:
"It is fun for me to get back out and coach. I had a lot of fun today. I was pretty happy with the way we performed. There is always a little rust and we have implemented a few new things on defense, but we were had a lot of enthusiasm and looked strong. Being on the field and coaching is what it's all about."
