Batty Earns Second Weekly Conference Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana women's tennis senior Sarah Batty earned her second Big Ten Player of the Week honor of the season announced the conference on March 22.
Batty led the then-No. 33 Hoosiers to a 5-2 victory over their third ranked opponent of the season in then-No. 68 Louisville on March 19. The Chesterfield, England product defeated the hard-hitting Maria Klokotzky, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. The win improved Batty's record to 10-5 in singles. In doubles, Batty and partner junior Laura McGaffigan improved to 12-3 with an 8-5 win over Klokotzky and Robyn White at the No. 1 position. The Hoosier pair currently leads the team in doubles victories. The Louisville win moved Indiana to 11-4 on the season.
This is Batty's second honor of the year, the third of her career and the Hoosiers' third laurel of the season. McGaffigan earned Big Ten Player of the Week for the week ending March 8.
Indiana is set to host its second and third Big Ten opponents this season in No. 33 Purdue on Friday, March 24 at 3 p.m., and No. 59 Illinois on Sunday, March 26 at 10 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Indiana Tennis Center. The Hoosiers enter the contest s11-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
