BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior wide receiver Lance Bennett is more than a talented football player, but also an accomplished singer/song writer. As Bennett prepares for his final season at Indiana, he finds time to be involved in music and stay focused on what he thinks will be an exciting season. The multi-talented Hoosier took time out to speak with IUHOOSIERS.com after practice on March 21.
"It feels good to be back out at practice, I definitely missed it," Bennett said. "Especially since I missed the early winter workouts, it felt good to be back out there and get back into the practice routine."
Bennett expects that the spring practice session is going to show a lot of young talent stepping up to prove their spots on the team.
"I expect a lot of competition as a team for spring practice and this season." Bennett said. "We have a lot of young talent. I expect a lot of young guy battling for positions, with a lot of enthusiasm, even more than last year. I don't know exactly how many returning seniors we have, but it appears to me that there aren't as many as we've had in the past. I don't really feel much different than before. I was always one of the oldest guys on the team anyway. I'll continue leading in the ways that I have before. I just want to get back in the swing of things and give as much as I possibly can."
Aside from football, Bennett spends his spare time finishing up classes, hanging out with teammates and working with his passion next to football, music.
"Classes are going really well. They always have. They're cool. I'm just getting things finished up. I'm almost done with that," Bennett said. "Other than that I'm involved in music, a lot of music. Other than football and music, I like to write in my down time, chill out or go bowling. We'll probably go bowling tonight. Me and some of the guys on the team like to bowl Monday or Tuesday nights."
