BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey program is set to host its 7v7 spring tournament on Saturday, March 24, 2006 in Mellencamp Pavilion. The Hoosiers will face competition from Louisville, Ball State, Saint Louis among others. An Indiana squad is slated to play at 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.
The format consists of six round-robin games lasting 25 minutes on two different fields.
"We need to sharpen up our receiving and passing skills, and the indoor style will be a good environment for us to improve on these fundamentals," Indiana head coach Amy Robertson said. "Spring competition is also great in that it allows for players who were not in the starting lineup during the regular season an opportunity to gain experience and confidence. Each year when your seniors graduate, there are always new players who emerge as your core group and as your leaders making it exciting for coaches to watch happen."
