Roberts Snares Championship Berth in Three-Meter at NCAAs

ATLANTA - Sophomore Taylor Roberts secured a spot in the championship finals of the three-meter at the 2006 NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Ga., on March 24. Overall, the Aurora, Colo., product posted a 337.25 as the seventh-best qualifier of the afternoon session.
The defending Big Ten champion in the event, Roberts nailed a pair of dives during the first and fifth rounds. In the initial round, Roberts recorded a 60.45 with a forward 3.5 somersault, while picking up 63.00 points with a reverse 1.5 somersault with 1.5 twists in the fifth set of dives.
With Roberts' inclusion in the championship dives, he becomes the 206th All-American in Indiana men's swimming and diving history, while also grabbing the Hoosiers' 155th diving All-America citation.
Meanwhile, senior Ryan Fagan closed out the day with a 27th-place 266.65 tally.
Next up, senior Kevin Swander and sophomore Ben Hesen will compete in the championship heats of the100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstrokes, respectively. Meanwhile, the Hoosiers will field teams in the 200-yard medley relay consolation heat as well as the 800-yard freestyle relay timed final. The competition begins at 7 p.m.
