ATLANTA - Senior Ryan Fagan advanced to the tower finals during the final day of competition at the 2006 NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Ga., on March 25. Overall, the Pittsburgh, Pa., product posted a seventh-place 294.00 to garner the right to compete for the national title.
Fagan remained steady throughout his entire six-dive set with each dive being within 20 points of each other. His best dive came in the second round with a 62.40 tally after he nailed an inward 3.5 somersault. The effort also secured Fagan his fourth career All-American certificate.
Meanwhile, sophomore Taylor Roberts snared his second All-America citation with a 16th-place 258.30 on the tower. After a shaky first few rounds, Roberts connected on his final dive, an armstand back double somersault with 1.5 twists, for 52.80 points.
Fagan will join freshman Nick Walkotten, who qualified for the consolation heat in the 200-yard butterfly, in final action at 7 p.m.
