Against Western Kentucky, the Hoosiers looked to have the victory heading into the bottom of the fourth. The Hilltoppers, however, woke up at the plate to score three runs in the their half of the frame. Up to the fourth, WKU had not registered a hit. The Western Kentucky come-from-behind victory was sparked by two home runs by the Hilltoppers, the second a two-run homer to right field to tie the game.
Western Kentucky then sealed the victory with the winning run in the bottom of the fifth. Despite a senior pitcher Mariangee Bogado blast in the top of the seventh, the ball fell a foot short of clearing the wall to tie the game. The fly-out to center field ended the contest and gave the Hilltoppers the 4-3 win.
The IU Classic wraps up on Sunday, March 26, with Western Kentucky taking on Wright State at 9:30 a.m., followed by Michigan State against Western Kentucky at 11:45 a.m. and Michigan State versus Wright State at 2 p.m.
