Hoosiers Net Four Wins in Spring Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team continued on its spring campaign with four wins at IU's Indoor Tournament on March 25 at Mellencamp Pavilion.
"We learned a lot about ourselves today," Indiana head coach Amy Robertson said. "There were a lot of positives that came out of today, and we gained knowledge on the areas in which we need to improve. We focused primarily on our offense and moving the ball. We need to organize the defense to be more effective."
In 7-on-7 indoor action, the Hoosiers topped the Indiana Club team in the first game, 5-0, before falling to the Louisville Black squad in a close 3-2 battle. IU topped Louisville's Red team in the third game, 4-3.
At noon, the Hoosiers took on some familiar opponents in Indiana's Alumni team featuring seniors Morgan Albini, All-American and U.S National team player Kayla Bashore, former assistant coach Jemima Cameron, assistant coach Gina Lucido, volunteer assistant coach Jen Meyers, Nikki Orciuch, Mallory Reabold and Lesley Wiler. Despite back-to-back goals on consecutive possessions from junior Lydia Schrott, the Alumni squad prevailed, 5-2.
Indiana capped the tournament with a pair of wins over Saint Louis, 1-0, and Ball State, 2-1. Freshman Katie Kiper netted the Hoosiers' only goal against the Billikens, while Schrott and sophomore Kate O'Connell scored to top the Cardinals in the final contest.
