Valentin Heads to Pro-Am Invitational Free Agent Basketball Camp

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--Senior guard Cyndi Valentin will participate in the ninth annual Women's Pro-Am Invitational Free Agent Basketball Camp at Brandeis University on April 1 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Valentin is attempting to make the 2006 WNBA Draft, which is set for April 5 at 1 p.m.
Valentin was recently recognized as one of the "Best Kept Secrets" according to the WNBA website. (http://www.wnba.com/draft2006/bestkeptsecrets.html).
A 2006 first team All-Big Ten selection by the media and coaches and a Big Ten All-Tournament team member, Valentin ranked second in the Big Ten in scoring with 18.5 ppg. She also broke the NCAA Division I record for consecutive free-throws made (61) and set new record for Big Ten in career free-throw percentage (.882). Valentin became just the third Hoosier in school history to finish the season as the team's leader in points (18.5), assists (3.4) and steals (1.9). She ranks sixth on the all-time scoring list with 1,769 career points, third in three-pointers made (172), and fifth in career three-pointers attempted (468). She was also named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks (Feb. 13 and Feb. 20).
Only two other Hoosiers have been drafted by the WNBA, Jill Chapman (21st pick in 2002 by Detroit Shock) and Quacy Barnes (22nd pick in 1998 by Sacramento).
