Marcus Thigpen gained 432 yards and two touchdowns on 32 receptions in 2005, and he will move to running back in 2006. Overall, Thigpen nearly recorded a trio of 100-yard receiving games with 92 yards and a touchdown on two catches against Central Michigan on Sept. 2. He also registered 98 yards on six receptions against Purdue on Nov. 19 and 86 yards on five snares against Minnesota on Nov. 5.
Marcus recently sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com to answer questions about his life inside and outside Indiana football.
What were your first impressions upon meeting Coach Hoeppner?
When I first met Coach Hoeppner, I thought, "This is a cool coach and that I was going to enjoy the rest of my years at IU."
Best part of being a college student-athlete
Being an athlete in college is something that I never planned on doing because I was so small my whole life. Just being in the atmosphere of football and in college is the best part about it.
Who is the toughest player you have ever faced?
I've had one good season and I can't really say who was tough I will find that out this upcoming season with the switch back to my normal spot at running back.
Who would play you in a movie?
The person that would play me in a movie is Omar Epps.
What team do you most look forward to playing against in 2006?
I look forward to playing every team on our schedule, especially Purdue.
Name one thing that people would be most surprised to learn about you
One thing about me some people know but most don't is that I love to bowl, and I have never golfed, so somebody has to take me.

Best thing about Indiana football
The best thing about Indiana football is that it's a great program that's going to accomplish a lot of great things very, very soon. It's a building thing with a whole staff of good coaches that make you want to be here.
What is the one message you have to potential IU football recruits?
My message to the future recruits is that this is a good place to be.
It's different and somewhere where you will get an education and will excel and do well on the field. Indiana has everything to offer for you. It's the place to be.
