Eight Hoosiers Set to Make Trip to Pinehurst

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - As the Indiana men's golf team gets ready to host its first tournament of the season, Hoosier head coach Mike Mayer has announced eight golfers will make the trip to the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. The event will be held from Sunday-Tuesday, March 19-21, in Pinehurst N.C., at The Centennial Course No. 8.
Freshmen Drew Allenspach and Jorge Campillo along with sophomore Santiago Quirarte are guaranteed spots in the lineup. Seniors Oren Hodak and Scott Seibert, junior Aaron Harrell in addition to freshmen Seth Brandon and Brandon Pike will battle it out for the remaining two spots.
Allenspach, Campillo and Quirarte each have played in all seven of the Hoosiers' events this season. Campillo leads the club with a 72.19 scoring average followed by Quirarte at 72.95 and Allenspach's 73.57 mark.
Brandon (74.67) and Seibert (75.73) have seen action in five tournaments, while Pike has posted a 75.44 average in three events. Harrell is attempting to play in his second event this season, and Hodak has yet to appear in the lineup this season.
Sixteen teams will join Indiana at Pinehurst, including Ball State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Illinois, Marquette, Michigan, Penn State, Rhode Island, SMU, Southern Miss, UAB, UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Wilmington, Virginia Commonwealth, Wisconsin and Xavier.
