Hoosiers Cap Home Slate with Minnesota and Iowa

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 35 Indiana women's tennis team welcomes Big Ten foes Minnesota and No. 37 Iowa to Bloomington for its final home matches of the season. The Hoosiers will square off against the Golden Gophers on Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m., at the Varsity Tennis Courts, before welcoming the Hawkeyes to town for an Easter match on Sunday, April 16 at 10 a.m. Heading into the weekend, Indiana is 15-5 overall and 5-1 in the Big Ten, while Minnesota is 4-14 overall and 1-5 in conference play and Iowa is 13-4 overall and 5-1 in league action. The Hawkeyes face Penn State on April 14 prior to meeting the Hoosiers.
Senior Salute
Indiana senior captain Sarah Batty will play her final home matches as a Hoosiers this weekend. Batty, who is a four-year letterwinner, earned All-America and All-Big Ten honors while at Indiana.
Hoosiers Move Outdoors
Weather permitting, IU will be playing the remainder of its matches outside. The Hoosiers will host this weekend's matches at the Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Minnesota Series
Indiana leads the all-time series with Minnesota 25-5, including two of the last three matches. Last season, IU topped the then-No. 75 Golden Gophers, 6-1 in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 15. Sarah Batty, Laura McGaffigan and Cecile Perton all notched wins for the Hoosiers in singles.
The Iowa Series
The Hoosiers are 25-6 against the Hawkeyes. In the two Big Ten foes last meeting on April 28 2005, Indiana fell to then-No. 49 Iowa, 7-0.
Hoosiers Maintain Top-50 Ranking
Indiana remains in the top 50 of the ITA/Fila tennis rankings. In the latest April 11 poll, the Hoosiers garnered the No. 35 slot. IU earned its highest ranking of the season in the No. 26 spot in the March 28 poll after besting three straight ranked teams.
Batty and McGaffigan Earn Ranking
IU's No. 1 doubles team of senior Sarah Batty and junior Laura McGaffigan earned the No. 57 nod in the April 4 ITA/Fila Rankings.
