Volleyball Announces 2006 Summer Camp Series

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana volleyball team and head coach Katie Weismiller will hold four separate camps as part of the 2006 IU Volleyball Summer Camp Series. Each camp will be staffed by IU volleyball coaches, current Indiana players and some of the top high school and club coaches in Indiana.
The set of camps begins July 10-13 with the Commuter Day Camp for grades 5-12. This camp is designed to teach players the fundamental skills of volleyball. Camp will be held at the Wildermuth Gymnasium and will run from 9 a.m. to noon for skills instruction with competition taking place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A one-hour lunch break will take place from noon to 1 p.m.
The All Skills Camp will run from July 15-18 for grades 5-12. This camp is designed to develop and improve the skills and understanding of the game of volleyball. Campers will be placed in groups according to skill level and experience.
In conjunction with the All Skills Camp, the Hoosiers will hold a Specialty Camp from July 15-18 for grades 9-12. This camp is designed to train players for a special position. Middle blockers, outside hitters, defensive players and setters will all learn skills from basic footwork to the most advanced aspects of the game.
The Hoosiers close out their summer camp series with Team Camp from July 19-21 for grades 9-12 that include freshman, junior varsity and varsity squads. This camp is designed to train entire high school teams, while providing an opportunity for competition. All skills will be covered and each team will be assigned a coach. Each team should have a minimum of eight players and be accompanied by one coach.
