NFL Europe Hoosier Update - April 18

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Hoosier quarterback Gibran Hamdan is wasting no time making his presence known in NFL Europe. Hamdan, a member of the Seattle Seahawks organization, leads NFL Europe in passing (114.7 passer rating), passing yards (1,104 yards) and touchdowns (10) for the Amsterdam Admirals.
Hamdan led the Admirals to an exciting 35-31 come-from-behind win on April 15 against the Rhein Fire for a share of first place in the NFL Europe standings. Hamdan completed 15 of his 22 attempts (68.2 percent) for 244 yards and three touchdowns to give Amsterdam its fourth win of the season. For the game, Hamdan notched an impressive 144.7 passer rating.
Led by Hamdan, the Admirals top the league in two major offensive categories. Amsterdam boasts NFL Europe's best total offense with 1,809 yards and passing offense with 1,298 yards.
Hamdan faced a familiar opponent in the showdown against Rhein in fellow Hoosier Aaron Halterman. Halterman, who was drafted by the Huston Texans, pulled down two catches for a total of 30 yards against Amsterdam.
In other NFL Europe action, IU's Justin Smith recorded a tackle in the Hamburg Sea Devil's 17-13 loss to the Frankfurt Galaxy. Smith is a member of the Chicago Bears.
Catch NFL Europe action on television. Berlin will take on Frankfurt on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m., while the Amsterdam-Rhein rematch is set for 8 p.m. Hamburg will square off against Cologne at 10 a.m., on Sunday, April 23. All games will be televised on the NFL Network.
