BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana volleyball team continues its spring season with competitions scheduled through the month of April. The Hoosiers are checking in with IUHOOSIERS.com from time to time to keep their fans abreast of how the spring season is going. Freshman Jessica Langert reports in today.
After a successful and exciting weekend, Katie (Weismiller) gave us Monday off so that we could focus on our studies as this is a very busy testing week for classes. We were all very proud and happy with our progress from the last weekend at IUPUI. Winning the tournament this past weekend at home was truly a tribute to how hard we have been working in practices all this Spring.
Today, however, we were back in the gym to work hard for our goal of winning the tournament in Chicago this weekend! We started out with lots of defensive drills, and then broke into groups again to work on passing. We really continue to focus on the importance of that first contact, whether it be a serve, pass or dig. Then, we split into groups so defensive specialists could work more on serve receive, and our hitters could work on their blocking footwork.
After all the drills, we broke into some competition drills to bring everything we worked on today to the court. It's always fun to use what you worked on during the day in scrimmages at the end of practice. We all like to win. That's for sure! Everyone has been playing so well these past few weeks, and it's really exciting to see all the progress we've made since the Fall. It should be a very productive and exciting last week of Spring season!
GO HOOSIERS!!
Jessica :)
