In the circle, senior pitcher Megan Roark set the pace of the game, fanning seven through seven innings and holding the Cardinals scoreless heading into the top of the six.
In the frame, Indiana returned to its scoring agenda as Bogado reached on a shot down the middle. The senior proceeded through the base path on a sacrifice bunt by freshman second baseman Sarah Padove, and moved to third on a throwing error. A fielder's choice by the Cardinals brought the Mariara, Venezuela native home for a score, giving IU a 2-0 advantage. With the damage, Ball State ended the frame on a groundout to third.
Roark, who continued to give the Cardinals trouble at the plate, registered her third three-up and three-down inning in the bottom of the six to hold Ball State scoreless heading into the decisive seventh inning.
Junior pitcher Christy Wahl put the final touch on the Cardinals as she took over in the circle for the final inning. Wahl upheld the Hoosiers' suffocating defense and helped polish off IU's 2-0 shutout victory.
