Hoosiers Collect Four Top-10 Finishes to Close Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Indiana men's and women's track and field teams finished competition at the prestigious Penn Relays on April 29 with four top-10 finishes. Led by Kyle Jenkins' title in the men's triple jump, the Hoosiers recorded regional qualifying marks in evey event they competed in for the final day.
In the College Men 4x100 championship, Indiana's team of Stephanos Ioannou, Wil Glover, Keith Heerdegen and Marcus Thigpen finished sixth overall with a time of 40.59.
IU's 4x400 relay team of Trey Warfield, Doug Dayhoff, Ryan Smith and David Neville improved upon its heat time on Saturday. The Hoosier quartet took third with a time of 3:07.71. The Hoosiers' championship time met the regional standard and turned in Indiana's top time for the spring. The team went 3:08.16 during prelims.
In the college triple jump, Jenkins took first place in the event with a jump of 15.51m (50-10.75). Jenkins' jump met the regional qualifying mark (15.08m) as well.
Ara Towns was the lone Hoosier female to compete on Saturday as she took seventh in the 100m dash championship with a time of 11.66. Towns improve upon her heat time of 11.87 in the prelims of the event. Towns' championship time of 11.66 met the regional standard.
Indiana returns home for the annual Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday, May 5. Action begins at 4 p.m., at IU's Billy Hayes Track at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.
