Hamdan Named NFL Europe Offensive Player of the Week

AMSTERDAM - Former IU standout Gibran Hamdan garnered NFL Europe (NFLE) Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Amsterdam Admirals over the Frankfurt Galaxy, 38-20, in the third week of the season.
Hamdan, an allocation from the Seattle Seahawks, recorded a 158.3 passer rating by connecting on 12 of 15 attempts for 189 yards and three touchdowns. Through three contests, Hamdan paces the league with 644 yards and five touchdowns, and is second with a 99.1 passer rating. Overall, the Admiral offense leads the NFLE with a 343.7 yards per game average.
Hamdan currently sits eighth on IU's all-time single-season attempts list with 293 in 2002. Additionally, his 152 completions in 2002 ranks him 11th all-time in Hoosier lore. Hamdan can also be found in the single-game attempts chart tied for sixth with 48 attempts versus Iowa on Oct. 19, 2002.
In other Hoosier-related NFL Europe action, Aaron Halterman, allocated from the Houston Texasn, has corralled six passes for 49 yards as a member of the Rhein Fire, while Justin Smith, allocated from the Chicago Bears, has tallied six tackles with a pair of unassisted special teams takedowns to his credit as a Hamburg Sea Devil.
Indiana continues its preparation for the April 8 Pancakes 'n' Pigskins scrimmage. Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m., as adults can purchase pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee for $5, and kids 12 and under can buy breakfast for $3.
The Kids Zone is back for its second straight Pancakes 'n' Pigskin and features various interactive inflatables and other activities.
Admission to the 10 a.m. intrasquad scrimmage is free and includes a halftime talk with Coach Terry Hoeppner and player and coach autograph session on the field after the scrimmage.
IU's 2006 spring season concludes with the annual Cream and Crimson intrasquad game on April 15 at 4 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
