Honor Society Honors Hoosier Women

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Three women's soccer student-athletes were honored on Sunday, April 2, with their induction into the Indiana University Mortar Board Honor Society. The event and honor, open to all senior women at Indiana, selected 40 new inductees to the class of 2006. Ali Brown, Lauren Fabbro and Shannon Vnoucek were among the 40 members inducted during Sunday's ceremony.
Mortar Board Inc. is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for distinguished ability and achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. Mortar Board began in 1918 as the first national organization honoring senior college women.
"We encourage our student-athletes to not only excel on the field, but most especially in the classroom," head coach Mick Lyon said. "It is an honor for these three outstanding players and students to be inducted into such a distinguished honor society."
Mortar Board is a national network that includes more than 200 chapters, 50 alumni chapters and 25 sections. Since 1918, more than 226,000 college seniors have been initiated into the Mortar Board tradition of scholarship, leadership and service.
