BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana volleyball team continues its spring season with competitions scheduled through the month of April. The Hoosiers are checking in with IUHOOSIERS.com from time to time to keep their fans abreast of how the spring season is going. Junior Anne Grabow reports in today.
Spring 2006 has brought many changes for the IU volleyball team.
We welcomed three new players, skill changes, position changes and 6 a.m. daily workouts! The most exciting element of this spring, though, has been the beginning of great team chemistry for the 2006 fall season.
Spring season has provided an opportunity for the five upperclassmen and nine underclassmen to get to know each other on a different level than you are able to reach during the hectic fall season. Several elements of our off-season training (such as conditioning workouts at Mellencamp) have been character-revealing challenges that have helped pull us together as a team.
During our first weekend of spring competition, we competed in drills and eventually a match (which we won) against IUPUI. Though it was a little rocky, it was nice to be back on the court again against a different opponent. This coming weekend, we will be playing in IUPUI's tournament. Some areas we have been working to strengthen for this weekend include blocking, aggressive serving and defense. We are confident and excited to compete again on Saturday in Indianapolis!
