Bogado, Hines and Roark Receive Conference Honors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Seniors Mariangee Bogado, Lauren Hines and Megan Roark each received conference accolades announced the conference on May 12. Hines leads the Hoosiers after receiving first team All-Big Ten at right field, while Bogado grabbed second team pitching honors. Roark wrapped up the conference awards as Indiana's sportsmanship honoree.
This is Hines' second conference honor since earning third team All-Big Ten as a freshman. Hines grabbed the distinction after leading the Hoosiers with a .417 batting average, ranking her among the top 10 in school history. The Auburn, Ind., native also has paced an Indiana offense that has blasted 39 home runs on the season, a new school record. Nine of those long balls belong to the senior right fielder, sending her career total to 24, also a top 10 mark in the IU record books.
Bogado is currently on a string of honors, earning IU Athlete of the Week on May 8, followed by being named the USA Softball National Collegiate Athlete of the Week on May 9. The Mariara, Venezuela native twice earned conference pitcher of the week honors, and ranks third in the Big Ten in strikeouts with 274 on the season. Bogado is having her best season of her career, as her punchout mark ranks third all-time in IU history for a single season, while the senior also ranks fourth all-time in career strikeouts with 544.
Roark received her first sportsmanship award honor of her career, proving that her presence in the circle has been respected by not only the coaching staff but the rest of the league.
The No. 6-seeded Hoosiers are set to compete in the Big Ten Tournament on May 12, when they face No. 3-seeded Iowa in Evanston, Ill., at 2 p.m. at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
