Brown, Miller, Schrott Elected Captains for 2006

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey program named junior Meredith Brown and seniors Morgan Miller and Lydia Schrott tri-captains for the 2006 season head coach Amy Robertson announced on May 19.
"I am really excited about the leadership that our captains will provide for the team next fall," Robertson said. "Morgan, Lydia and Meredith are three of our most committed players and also are very talented on the field. They will provide great examples for others to follow, while each of them have their own style of leadership which will spread out their impact to the entire team."
Brown started 21 games at midfield for Indiana in 2005. During her sophomore season, Brown tallied a team-high 10 assists and finished tied for first in assists in the Big Ten standings. The total ranked second on IU's single-season assist column.
Miller enters her senior campaign as the leader of the Hoosier defense. In 2005, Miller started all 22 contests at back. The Gap, Pa., native earned first team All-Big Ten honors along with being named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region team for the second straight year. Miller recorded 13 points last season off five goals and three assists. As the anchor of the Hoosier defense, Miller helped IU to five shutout victories. She earned the first defensive save of her career against Northwestern on Oct. 8. Miller is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten and NFHCA Academic Squad member.
Schrott, a 2005 second team All-American, returns as Indiana's leading scorer from a season ago. The Quarryville, Pa., product earned first team All-Big Ten and NFHCA All-Region honors last season after tallying a team-high 37 points on 17 goals and three assists. Schrott scored IU's first hat trick in program history against Northeastern (Aug. 28) and the second of her career in Indiana 3-2 win over then-No. 5 North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Schrott sits at the top of the Hoosiers' career goals (29), assists (17) and points (75) lists. Additionally, Schrott is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a three-time NFHCA Academic Squad member.
Indiana opens the much-anticipated 2006 campaign at Virginia on Saturday, Aug. 26.
