Fleming, Neville Advance at NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Indiana men's track and field teams opened competition at the 2006 Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Sacramento State's Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex on June 7. Wil Fleming and David Neville advanced in the hammer throw and 400m, respectively.
The first Hoosier to compete at the NCAA Championships, Fleming qualified for the finals in the hammer throw. The Bloomington, Ind., native hurled a 63.49m (208-04) on his second attempt en route to an 11th place finish in the prelims. Fleming will compete in the finals of hammer on Friday.
Neville, the reigning Big Ten champion and All-American in the 400, advanced to the semifinals after taking 11th place with a time of 45.70 in the opening round of the event. Neville will run in the semis on Friday, June 9.
Jessica Gall (10,000m), Stephen Haas (10,000m), John Jefferson (1,500m), Ryan Ketchum (shot put), Larra Overton (1,500m), Ara Towns (100m) and the men's 4x400m relay team (Neville, Doug Dayhoff, Ryan Smith, Trey Warfield and John Gunnell) will compete tomorrow (June 8).
