Gall, Overton Fare Well in Second Day of NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Led by Jessica Gall's 11th-place finish in the 10,000m, the Indiana women's track and field team fared well at the 2006 Outdoor Track and Field Championships' second day of action at Sacramento State's Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex on June 8.
In the 10,000m, Gall claimed 11th place out of a field of 26 with a time of 34:21.87 in the finals of the event. The two-time All-American in cross county boasts a top time of 34:01.00 in the 10K.
Larra Overton turned in Indiana's fourth all-time best time in the 1,500m with a 4:22.03 mark in the semifinals. Additionally, Overton's time marked a personal best for the New Albany, Ind., native as she took 15th in the event.
Ara Towns, the reigning Big Ten Champion in the 100m, posted a 27th-place time of 11.85 in the prelims at the NCAA Championships.
Wil Fleming (hammer throw finals), Kyle Jenkins (triple jump prelims), David Neville (400m semifinals) and Kelly Siefker (3,000m steeplechase finals) will compete on Friday, June 9 in their respective events.
